I’m just a simple man, trying to make my way through life, painting models and miniatures in an effort to pretend that the world really isn’t that bad. Hope you like what you see.
“There’s a noise upstairs in the attic, it’s the shuffle of worn out shoes. And the scent of the oil and brushes, drifts down like a pale perfume.”

I’ll waste time with my friends later…
Two things have happened lately. The “Star Wars: Obi Wan” series has rekindled my love for all things Start Wars, and the release of Top Gun: Maverick has re-ignited my love for all things related to fighter jets. My very first models as a kit were various fighters and bombers from WW2 through to more modern planes and Top Gun has me itching to try my hand at an F/A 18. Don’t worry. That’s coming.
But, before I get to that, I’m going to tackle something else. With both motivation and inspiration firing on all cylinders, I picked up one of Bandai’s 1/72 scale X-wing kits. I’ve seen some amazing results that various people across the internet have been able to achieve with these kits and it will be a nice change of pace from gaming miniatures that I’ve been painting collecting and putting on my shelves.
The Monkey King
Born from an egg on a mountain top
Like a lot of Aussie kids growing up in the 80’s, the seminal ABC tv-series “Monkey Magic” was a huge favourite of mine. At the time, I had knowledge of the roots of the stories and the character, it was just a fun Kung Fu romp with a cheeky main character with bad-ass Bo skills and magic powers. Now, I’m over 40, and despite years of practice I still can’t clone myself with a strand of hair plucked from my hirsute chest.
When I saw this amazing figure from Revolution Miniatures, I had to have it, and I knew straight away it would be the first non-wargaming model I’d try my hand at (well, since the days of painting WW2 models with my Dad as a kid). Given the scale (70mm) I expect a whole range of new challenges, and I’ll likely have to learn a few new skills along the way.
